Keir Starmer has said: ‘the Government will deliver a generational shift in the safety and quality of housing for everyone in this country’
The Government have committed to respond to the Grenfell Tower Inquiry Report within the next six months
In a House of Commons debate on 11 September in Building Safety and Resilience, the Minister for Building Safety:-
-
confirmed that the Government will accelerate the pace of remediation and go further and faster to drive change across the industry
-
stated that the Government are willing to force Freeholders to assess their buildings and enter remediation schemes within set timetables, with a legal requirement to force action if that is what it takes to tackle industry intransigence – the Government is to set out further steps on remediation this autumn
New remediation action plan

At the Labour Party Conference held this month Angela Rayner said:

"It is completely unacceptable that we have thousands of buildings still wrapped in unsafe cladding seven years after Grenfell.

And that’s why we will bring forward a new remediation action plan this Autumn to speed up the process and we’ll pursue those responsible – without fear or favour."
