THE GOVERNMENT'S NEW REMEDIATION ACCELERATION PLAN

The Government has said that a new remediation acceleration plan is to be presented before the end of the year

The Financial Times has recently run an article which suggested:-

-
that UK Housebuilders would be given 18 months to start fixing dangerous cladding
-
the Deputy Prime Minister would be meeting housebuilding bosses later this month to finalise the plans
-
under the new proposals, developers will have 6 months from the date the plan is agreed to finish assessing whether their buildings need remediation and a further 12 months to start work

THE BUDGET

In this month's Budget, the Chancellor announced £1 billion of investment to remove dangerous cladding next year - more details are expected later this year

Commentators have suggested that this investment will be spread out between the two existing government remediation funds, the Cladding Safety Scheme and the Building Safety Fund
