Where does this leave Building Safety?

BUILDING SAFETY

A new Labour Government is now in office with a large majority

Relevant appointments which will affect Building Safety are:

-
Angela Rayner as Secretary of State for the (re-named) Ministry of Housing and Communities and Local Government
-
Matthew Pennycook as a Minister of State in the same Ministry

The State Opening of the new Parliament took place on the 17 July when the King's Speech set out the legislative agenda for the Government

There was no specific mention in relation to building safety

Although in its pre-election Manifesto Labour pledged to introduce regulation to improve building safety and consider better protection for Leaseholders from the cost of fixing unsafe buildings, it appears that this is not part of Labour's initial first steps, so it could be some time before action is actually taken
